Colophon
How this site is built. Updated when the build is.
Stack
- Framework: Astro — ships zero JS by default. The faster your site is, the more Google likes you.
- Hosting: Vercel — edge-cached, sub-100ms TTFB globally.
- Domain: Cloudflare Registrar.
- Fonts: Crimson Pro for serif, JetBrains Mono for everything else.
- Source: Plain markdown in a content collection. No CMS. No database.
Design
The brief: Anthropic editorial × Bloomberg terminal. Dark, austere, sharp corners (no rounded edges, ever), warm off-white on near-black, single amber accent. Tabular numerals so columns align. Hairline horizontal rules. Old-style figures in body, lining figures in code.
Reading width
Capped at ~640px (the Tufte recommendation, give or take). Long lines hurt more than they help. Drop caps on the first paragraph because it’s a printed-book convention I miss on the web.
SEO foundation
Sitemap, RSS, OG images, structured data (Person on the
domain, BlogPosting on each post), canonical URLs, slug-only
paths so posts age gracefully.
Tracking
None. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom — not yet, anyway. If I add it, I’ll write about it.
